Mission

It is the mission of the Food Pantry to help those in the local community who are hungry by providing non-perishable food items, thereby enhancing the quality of life in our community.

 

Location

The Community Food Pantry is located at the Hooksett Town Offices at 35 Main St. in Hooksett Village. The Pantry has its own private entrance in the rear of the building. See above photos.

Hours of Operation

Summer hours for 2014 (June 30 through Labor Day)

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10:00AM - Noon (Closed on July4)
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 2:00PM - 4:00PM
  • Wednesday evenings: 4:00PM - 6:00PM

Effective September 2, 2014 the Community Food Pantry's non-summer hours are as follows:

  •  Monday  9:30 am - 12:00 noon
  •  Tuesday 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
  •  Wednesday 9:00 am - 12 noon and 3:30 pm - 6:00pm
  •  Thursday 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
  •  Friday    9:30 am - 12 noon

How to Obtain Food

Anyone seeking help from the Community Food Pantry is welcomed and treated with respect regardless of their personal situation. The pantry is run by community volunteers who host clients by appointment only. Unlike some other pantries, referrals are not required. Please call 485-7222 to make an appointment.

 
Cash and Credit Card Donations: Cash donations are always accepted and are used to continue the mission of the food pantry and are used to purchase food items or to pay operating expenses. Checks may be made payable to “Hooksett Kiwanis Foundation Inc. Food Pantry” and mailed to the Hooksett Community Food Pantry at 35 Main St., Hooksett, NH 03106.  Such donations are tax deductible, with receipts provided upon request. Credit card donations may be made by entering the amount in the following "donate" box and following the instructions. On the final screen there is an option for "note to seller". Press "add" and enter a note stating "Donation to Food Pantry".

Planet Aid bins

For your gently worn children’s clothing, we encourage that clothing be placed in the Kiwanis Kid’s Kloset donation boxes at the Town Offices at 35 Main St. for re-distribution to Hooksett children in need. For other items, Boston based Planet Aid Corporation collects shoes and clothing thoroughout our area using yellow roadside drop boxes. Proceeds are used for international programs.  As part of it's non-profit organization, Planet Aid provides a donation to designated beneficiaries of each of their donation boxes that is selectable by their host location.  The HCFP has registered to be an available recipient of donation. For contents in the below Planet Aid boxes hosted in Hooksett, they have designated donation to HCFP:Tire Warehouse - Hooksett Rd., Tokyo Joe's - Hooksett Rd, Shaw's Supermarket in the Shoppes at Hooksett Landing  Plaza, Pizza Man on Route 3A  and Chris' Drywall at 193 Londonderry Turnpike


Food Donations

The following items are always collected.

  • Proteins: canned tuna, chicken, beef, canned or dried beans and legumes, peanut butter, nuts, canned pasta (such as Spaghetti O’s) stews, chili.
  • Grains and Starches: boxed prepared food (such as hamburger helper), boxed cereal, stuffing mix, prepared rice, instant mashed potatoes, pastas, macaroni & cheese, pancake mixes and syrup.
  • Fruits and vegetables. All canned fruit and vegetables, dried fruit bagged or boxed, applesauce, fruit or vegetable juices, spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes.
  • Other Food Items: baking good items, packaged cookies, puddings, Jell-O, instant coffee & tea, powdered mix drinks, condiments, jams & jellies.
  • Refrigerated and Frozen Foods: A limited volume of frozen and refrigerated items can be accepted for distribution. Please call to make arrangements prior to donating these items.
  • Non-food Items: dish soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, hand and body soap, shampoo, toothpaste, tissues, toilet tissue

Items must not be expired and in the original packaging. We do not accept medications or drugs of any kind.
